Fox Nation announced today that Cops is being brought back for a 33rd season. The news comes 15 months after the long-running reality series was cancelled by its most-recent home at Paramount Network.

One of the first ever reality-based television shows, Cops premiered in 1989 on Fox, where it aired for 24 years. It wasn't off the air long before being revived by Spike TV, now known as Paramount Network. When it was cancelled again last year, Season 33 had reportedly already been filmed. It is unclear whether Fox Nation intends to just air the already-produced episodes, or if it will continue the show as an ongoing series.

One of the first reality-based television shows, Cops features camera crews riding along in police cars and capturing the action of the on-duty officers. The show has no host and uses no narration, depending completely on the police officers and the footage shot to capture each story as it unfolds.

Season 33 of Cops premieres on Friday, October 1.
