No Season 2 for the comic-based drama.
October 17, 2021
Word is out that FX has cancelled Y: The Last Man after just one season. Showrunner Eliza Clark took to Twitter with the sad news, stating her commitment to finding the drama a new home. The show is currently seven episodes into its run on FX on Hulu, with three remaining before the now-series finale on November 1.
Based on the comic book series of the same name, Y: The Last Man takes place after a catastrophic event decimates every mammal with a Y chromosome except for one man and his pet monkey. The survivors work to restore what was lost and build something better out of their post-apocalyptic world.

I forced myself to watch 3 episodes. Getting to the end of episode 3 was a real drag.
Ashley Romans (agent 355) is the only one that plays a believable character (and she does that very well) but for the rest: horrible screenplay, slooowwww dialogues with "meaningful looks" galore.
Totally unbelievable reactions like for instance the 2 pilots: as if women don't know how to behave in the military.
Yorick: it is true, the best ones die first. My daughter and I were hoping he would still die. Alas.

Pat, aside from all of that, this show just plain sucked. It was boring and contrived and just plain made no sense...even AFTER suspending my disbelief, which as a SyFy/horror etc, fan, obviously, I am very good at.
Huh?

.. amazing coincidence that the woman who just so happens to become President, also just so happens to have a son who just so happens to be the only man left on earth. Miraculous! Now that's solid writing for you. Suuuuuuuuuure.. could happen. Good thing Yorik isn't the son of some random woman earning minimum wage.

Every single person on here is wrong about why it got cancelled. This is why , the ratings were fine. However they had a three year contract with both the actors and rights. They started filming in 2019. They had to redo contracts this year and pay up front three million dollars. The actors also had moved on somewhat and would have to break contracts. So this was a one and done die to money issues not ratings. Not ratings ,. However fx knew. Before airing the show that it was effectively cancelled before airing it.

The problem with the show was that leaned a little too much into liberal v conservative American politics. For someone outside the US, this mean f-all and has no entertainment value either, whereas for someone in the US, there is already so much of it IRL and in news channels and the zeitgeist, and it has had an effect on their actual lives that I do not see how anyone would get entertainment value out of it. People watch TV series, movies, etc to escape reality, after all.

"Woke" or not (stupid and overabused term…), the show was sadly pretty slow and boring. I don't like the "recent" trend or releasing whole seasons at once, but it allows for slow pace serials, and this show would have benefited from that.
