OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network announced today that Queen Sugar has been renewed for a seventh and final season. The news comes ahead of tonight's Season 6 finale.
Created by Ava DuVernay and executive produced by Oprah Winfrey, the series follows estranged sisters who reunite in Louisiana after inheriting their father's sugarcane farm. The show is based on the 2014 novel of the same name by Natalie Baszile.
13 final episodes have been ordered to conclude Queen Sugar, with its seventh season likely to premiere in mid-to-late 2022.
“To everything, there is a season. #QUEENSUGAR will have seven. And then, I feel strongly that the Bordelon saga will be complete. To produce seven seasons of a modern drama centered on a Black family is a radical act. I am proud of that. And grateful.” https://t.co/kKdndv4dSn
