No Season 2 for the musical comedy.
December 18, 2021
Word is out that Netflix has cancelled Julie and the Phantoms after only one season. The news was announced on Instragram by executive producer Kenny Ortega, coming over a year after the show released its 9-episode freshman run.
A musical comedy based on a Brazilian series, the show follows a high school girl named Julie, who lost her passion for music after the death of her mother. When the ghosts of three teen musicians from 25 years ago mysteriously appear in her mom's old music studio, Julie's inner spirit awakens. Joining the trio, Julie helps them become the band they were never able to be, while they inspire her to start writing and singing again.

Yo Steve S, learn to read full sentences, bro. I replied to entitlement regarding data transparency, not control. Given how much you far-right types hate education and exposing your kids to new ideas and concepts, its no wonder you yourself cannot discern the difference...its poetic almost.

First off I want to say I am sorry to all the people who are sad about this show not getting a second season. It’s always sad to see a show you love not continue.
Second, I just want to put out some perspective. Topics have been brought up over Netflix and it’s “political agenda.” and “control”….with a show about a teenage girl who sees ghosts. Step back and look at this situation. What political agenda does one pursue by saying “clearly the way to get this is cancelling that show about the girl who sees ghost musicians.”
Look, I am sure you’re going to fire back with some more nonsensical comments that further illustrate your own ignorance. Which is absolutely your right to do so. But before you do, think about how ridiculous this whole situation is and ask yourself…..”is this really worth my time?”

@ Sammi
Yes. It most definitely is... a homage? and copyright_infringement? on style, placement, color.... but no chance get any of that Jem money in court. Art is art.
@Huh?
Just found out Jem and the Holograms never stood a chance cause kenner rush-launched barbie and the rockers first. Also, if you watch the first six episode of the original cartoon.... you give up on that one too pretty quick.

@Sammi... because basically that's what it was.. but not animated. It was for tweens or family viewing. Trite, predictable and laced with moral lessons. Still, it was NOT a bad show. It simply was what it was.

Its subscription-based revenue stream means that virtually all income is generated by the viewers themselves giving Netflix an extra layer of freedom to pursue a political agenda. Which, if you are not blind, you know they do.
Yet @elbae thinks that complaining about the control here is entitlement, in an industry dominated by agenda driven liberals or progressives. The message is: eat this and like it.

Super sad about this! It was an awesome show that was wonderfully wholesome with amazing catchy songs, I'm really going to miss this one but hopeful someone else will pick it up :(

Really disappointed. There aren't many shows out there that aren't vulgar and make you happy. Netflix, you need to save this show!!!
