No Season 2 for the musical comedy.
December 18, 2021
Word is out that Netflix has cancelled Julie and the Phantoms after only one season. The news was announced on Instragram by executive producer Kenny Ortega, coming over a year after the show released its 9-episode freshman run.
A musical comedy based on a Brazilian series, the show follows a high school girl named Julie, who lost her passion for music after the death of her mother. When the ghosts of three teen musicians from 25 years ago mysteriously appear in her mom's old music studio, Julie's inner spirit awakens. Joining the trio, Julie helps them become the band they were never able to be, while they inspire her to start writing and singing again.

Its subscription-based revenue stream means that virtually all income is generated by the viewers themselves giving Netflix an extra layer of freedom to pursue a political agenda. Which, if you are not blind, you know they do.
Yet @elbae thinks that complaining about the control here is entitlement, in an industry dominated by agenda driven liberals or progressives. The message is: eat this and like it.

Super sad about this! It was an awesome show that was wonderfully wholesome with amazing catchy songs, I'm really going to miss this one but hopeful someone else will pick it up :(

Really disappointed. There aren't many shows out there that aren't vulgar and make you happy. Netflix, you need to save this show!!!

@Ruben : They don't owe anyone anything. If you don't like their level of transparency, then stop paying them. No one is putting a gun to your head and making you pay them. The level of entitlement you have is astronomical....and unfortunately you are the trens these days...people pay $15 for a movie ticket and think they have the right to demand whatever they want from a $150million production.

I am sad about this. At least they should make an ending for it. They left us in the air. I was hoping to find out what happened in the end. They let a massive plot gap and now they just cancel it without a closure.

Public needs to know why Netflix is not renewing the series. They are owed that since we are paying Netflix to stay in business

No!!!! This was such a great show! It was wholesome and the music was so catchy. They got rid of Anne with an E now this. Netlfix is a joke at this point.

I am so upset that they actually canceled the show, maybe by some miracle they will bring it back instead of canceling it.
