No Season 2 for the musical comedy.
December 18, 2021
Word is out that Netflix has cancelled Julie and the Phantoms after only one season. The news was announced on Instragram by executive producer Kenny Ortega, coming over a year after the show released its 9-episode freshman run.
A musical comedy based on a Brazilian series, the show follows a high school girl named Julie, who lost her passion for music after the death of her mother. When the ghosts of three teen musicians from 25 years ago mysteriously appear in her mom's old music studio, Julie's inner spirit awakens. Joining the trio, Julie helps them become the band they were never able to be, while they inspire her to start writing and singing again.

I finally sit down to watch something on Netflix and it's second season gets canceled. I love musicals, my daughter actually got inspired to play the guitar and panio the last year, we are very upset, we need more showes that give value. We have paid for Netflix for years and we really don't watch it till this show came on. Might cancel my subscription now.

This was a great show to watch with my daughter. Loved the story and music. There are not enough of these shows. Netflix seems to be doing this a lot and it saddens me.

I am so so disappointed, this show was a gem. Very talented actors, great songs and a thoughtful story. This was far superior to other shows that were renewed.

@Rick, no one is amused by your lame condescending. And, "Judging by the comments for almost every cancellation, it always comes down to politics" - That's ridiculously overstated. Ratings are often reflective of viewers distaste with agenda driven programming. To ignore that content isn't frequently full of agenda is to be an idiot. To pretend that politics is virtually never involved in hard or close decisions in this day and age is dumb. To think that Netflix isn't political is to be blind.

This is extremely disappointing. This show was great and I was really looking forward to where the story was going to go. Such a shame.

There goes Netflix again... cancelling YET another good show. I mean it was pretty obvious after not hearing nothing for damn near a year but I really wish they gave it another chance.

Judging by the comments for almost every cancellation, it always comes down to politics. HAHAHA omg I'm actually laughing out loud at the thought that there are people out there stupid enough to actually think this.
News flash: 99% of all cancellations come down to the viewership and the money. That's it.
If a show doesn't fit a network's "political agenda", then why is it even on there in the first place? HAHAHAHA (I'm still laughing at the notion). Anyway, you can be damn certain that if enough people watched this show, it would be coming back for season 2.

Actually bummed. This was a really good show with actual good songs. Had a lot of potential. Guess it doesn’t fit Netflix’s political agenda
