The Korean drama has more story to tell.

During Netflix's fourth quarter 2021 earnings call today, chief content officer Ted Sarandos confirmed that Squid Game will be returning for a second season. While not quite a renewal in the traditional sense, it's a no-brainer that the streamer would want more of the show that became its #1 most-viewed series.
"Absolutely," Sarandos answered when asked if another season was in the cards. "The Squid Game universe has just begun," he continued, indicating that they have plans for the show beyond just a second season.
In Squid Game, 456 cash-strapped players accept a mysterious invitation to compete in a series of traditional children's games. A tempting prize awaits them inside, but the games have deadly high stakes and put their morality and humanity to the ultimate test. Since its premiere last September, over 124 million households have tuned into the show.

AdamK Youre right, so many great stories to tell… like how about the surviving son from “Audition” is the dying millionaires grandson who’s evolved into a entitled brat whose expectations of inheritance of the empire are shattered when the morning of 21st birthday he wakes up in the bunkhouse with Season 2’s contestants.

JCarson Another fun way leave the Korean soundtrack with English subtitles on (the English audio are never the true Korean phrases and slang anyway.

This was a very well done series. If they are going to make a series 2, it cannot be a cookie cutter clone . . . There is room to tell so many other stories.

I enjoyed the show but if you have not seen it yet, watch it with the subtitles. The terribly dubbed voices really take away from it in my opinion.

I work at a school and first graders were doing red light green light and pretend shooting those who moved. Now squid game is clearly a adult brutal show not for kids butthere you have american parenting. The show is savage but good in a beserk way.

Ok - the way it's described sounds like a reality promo and those contest shows often get the ratings. Squid Game is a catchy name (and also sounds imported from where reality contests are popular).
