The spin-off scores a multi-season pickup.
March 9, 2022
Netflix announced today that Vikings: Valhalla has been renewed for Seasons 2 and 3. The pickup is an early one, as the series premiered less than two weeks ago. Its 8-episode run debuted on February 25 and has been garnering high critical praise.
Set 100 years after the conclusion of History Channel's original 'Vikings', the spin-off follows the adventures of famous Vikings like Leif Erikson, Harald Hardrada, Freydis, and Norman King William the Conqueror.
Filming on Season 2 of Vikings: Valhalla has already wrapped and is currently being edited for a likely premiere in early 2023.

I was hoping it would be like the original vikings, but instead they went on the whole Woke/Diversity/Inclusion cliff - with a side of gender/race swapping for good measure. Add that to not-so-great CGI, iffy cast, poor writing, mediocre acting and it was unwatachable for me.
That being said, in general, the sets, cinematography and costumes were pretty good I thought.

I had hoped for that as I really enjoyed the first season. And getting a two season pickup means there is security in developing the plot. Which is a good thing. Wouldn't mind if they add two episodes per season.

Could have been better. Hopefully things will pick up in season 2!
