It is being reported that Fox has cancelled Our Kind of People after just one season. The news comes four months after the drama wrapped its 12-episode freshman run, which ultimately garnered mixed reviews and failed to draw a sizeable audience.

Inspired by Lawrence Otis Graham's acclaimed book, "Our Kind of People: Inside America's Black Upper Class," the series follows a strong-willed, single mother named Angela who sets out to reclaim her family's name in the aspirational world of Oak Bluffs on Martha's Vineyard. In the historical stronghold where the affluent and powerful black elite play, Angela wants to make an impact with her new haircare line for black women. It isn't long, however, before she discovers a dark secret about her mother's past that turns her world upside-down and changes the community forever.
