The Western noir thriller will return for a second season.
June 21, 2022
AMC announced today that Dark Winds has been renewed for Season 2; the news coming just two episodes into the Western thriller's run. The series premiered earlier this month to solid viewership and critical praise across the board.
Set in 1971 on a remote outpost of the Navajo Nation, the series follows Tribal Police Officer Joe Leaphorn, who is dealing with a double murder case. The closer he gets to the truth, the more he exposes the wounds of his past. Joining him in the investigation is his new deputy Jim Chee, and together they must challenge their own spiritual beliefs while battling forces of evil on the path to salvation.
Look for Season 2 of Dark Winds in 2023.

Pat, no matter how much people like you try to make the word "Woke" seem like a bad word, it isnt going to work. Im "Woke" and proud of it. Everyone who is woke is. And dont make it harder than it has to be. Woke just means that people have opened their eyes and are AWARE of the B.S. and arent willing to just let it slide without calling it out.

Meh. Very slow and predictable.

So far this show has moved too slowly. Unfortunately the producers seem to think making everything a mystery will entice viewers but it just serves to stupefy. There could be a series here but I keep waiting for it to start. But the setting is a big plus.
I get the feeling that AMC greenlit this for another season because what else have they got?
Huh?

Wow Pat. That's probably the most racist post I've seen here... and that's quite a feat.

Wake up. Wokeness is a disease. Thos show is not woke. If it were all white people would be depicted as demons. And native americans would be helpless people who need marxists to take care of them. Wokeness says people who commit crimes should not go to jail due to their skin color, so they go back to their area and hurt more people, while the leftist wokey lives in a nice area.

Susan , netflix has lots of nonwoke shows. Hulu too. You never watched their vikings shows? The last one does have a black viking but that did happen. So many good shows. Lost in space was great.

Isn't telling Susan her opinion is wrong hate, discrimination, and the OPPOSITE of accepting others? Just saying.. the most intolerant people I know are the ones always "preaching" tolerance.

This show is great and has a very compelling story to follow. Apparently Susan likes to stay asleep since being "woke" is a problem. Wake up and join reality. Living in your fantasy world where hate and discrimination are ok is not going to help anyone.

First 2 eps were decent... still too early to call if ya ask me. It could go downhill and just draaaaaaaaaaaaaaag. But, we'll see.

Finally, Tony Hillerman's novels are coming to life on the screen! I love that the show has actual Native Americans playing Native Americans. The show takes place in 1971, and you get the feel from each scene. Zahn McClarnon is fantastic as the Navajo police chief. Great casting with Jim Chee's character as well. All around very good cast and excellent storytelling. If you like effective storytelling (including Dineh culture), detective shows, and a superior cast, you will enjoy this show.
