The gothic horror series nabs an early pickup.
September 28, 2022
AMC announced today that Anne Rice's Interview with The Vampire has been renewed for Season 2. The pickup is an early one, coming days ahead of the show's premiere this Sunday. While home viewers haven't got a chance to see it yet, critics have, and early reviews have been overwhelmingly positive.
An updated take on Anne Rice's 1976 gothic novel, the series follows Louis de Pointe du Lac, Lestat de Lioncourt, and Claudia's epic story of love, blood, and the perils of immortality as told to journalist Daniel Molloy. Frustrated with the limitations of living life as a black man in 1900s New Orleans, Louis finds it impossible to resist Lestat's offer of becoming his vampire companion. But Louis' intoxicating new powers come with a violent price, and the introduction of Lestat's newest fledgling, the child vampire Claudia, sets them on a decades-long path of revenge and atonement.

The Premier is already available to be watched... it's NOT 4 days early.. but yeah.. it is kind of before most of the public can view it. I haven't watched it yet though I have it... we'll see. AMC early renewals generally mean either they think the show is REALLY good.. or they have 16-18 episodes they are going to cut into 2 seasons. Like they did with Kevin Can F Himself - it's produced as 1 season.. but they broke it into 2 seasons for airing.
it's normal

Can you spammers get new talking points. You do know shows also have big premieres, so what probably happened is it got good reviews and a lot of people liked it. AMC tends to keep shows on even when they aren't huge in the ratings if they have a big following (see: Mad Men). They're the anti-Netflix.

@Lauren, something seems slightly fishy? What? Shows gif early renewals all the time nowadays. Jack Ryan, Bosch: Legacy, Halo, Handmaid’s Tale, Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Literally just Google “renewed ahead of premiere” and you’ll find so many examples. Networks get confident in shows sometimes, especially if they’re based on preexisting properties of have positive hype. Whether or not that’s a smart decision is anyone’s guess, but I’d hardly use the word “fishy” to describe it.

Interview with the vampire is the first book in a series of ironically 13 books!
Lots of story to tell!
