The gothic horror series nabs an early pickup.
September 28, 2022
AMC announced today that Anne Rice's Interview with The Vampire has been renewed for Season 2. The pickup is an early one, coming days ahead of the show's premiere this Sunday. While home viewers haven't got a chance to see it yet, critics have, and early reviews have been overwhelmingly positive.
An updated take on Anne Rice's 1976 gothic novel, the series follows Louis de Pointe du Lac, Lestat de Lioncourt, and Claudia's epic story of love, blood, and the perils of immortality as told to journalist Daniel Molloy. Frustrated with the limitations of living life as a black man in 1900s New Orleans, Louis finds it impossible to resist Lestat's offer of becoming his vampire companion. But Louis' intoxicating new powers come with a violent price, and the introduction of Lestat's newest fledgling, the child vampire Claudia, sets them on a decades-long path of revenge and atonement.

I barely watched the first episode. Very disappointed and this show absolutely cannot be compared to the original Interview with the Vampire. This new show is complete garbage. Sorry.

Not for me at all. Took woke and modernized, they have ignored the source material and strayed too far from the lore. This was just total trash and a waste of time.

Straying too far from source material so far. SPOILERS AHEAD! Ok, we we're going to make one of the vampires black. Fine..equity..whatevs...why have it be Louis? So they can just lose the slave issue and plantation? Move it from 1800 to 1910? And make the black Louis a....pimp? LOL..ok. They should have made Lestat black as he's the more ancient vampire. Change his origin from France to Mesopotamia or Egypt. Anyway, I'll give this show a couple more episodes.

never read the book... liked the 1994 film.. this series is leaning a bit too far to the homosexual side for me. And it's slooooooooooooooooow.. 2 episode felt like they took a week to view. I'l try another ep or two, but it's nowhere near my "must watch" list.
[sarcasm] It is nice that everyone in 1700s New Orlean seems to be so progressive where race and sexuality is concerned. it's almost as if people in the 18th century had the same mindsets as people in the 21st century. 300 years ahead of their time.[/sarcasm]

Watched Eps 1 and 2. Don't know how it premiered well enough to grant a S2. Must of been just family and friends of the shows staff. Even with a S2 given it'll be canceled by the end of S1. I think it's boring so far but still I'll give it the standard 5 eps to hook me.

What do any of these comments have to do with Anne Rice or “Interview With the Vampire”? I thought there was separate area for HBO’s “House of Dragons” or are these a glitch?

In no way is house of the dragon woke just because it has black targarians. Wokeness would show them being oppressed by white people. This vamp show is ok , but house of dragons is great. Awesome. Watch it. The rings tv series is hideous though.

Not for me. Nothing like the original and vampires who can stop time is a bit much.

If you read all the novels, and I did, and you came away thinking " this would be GREAT if there was a Woke version" this is for you. Just like House of Dragons is a Woke version of GOT
