No Season 2 for the historical drama.

It looks like the story of Queen Elizabeth I will not be continuing on Starz. The cable network has cancelled Becoming Elizabeth after just one season, according to creator Anya Reiss.
The series premiered with an 8-episode run in June, garnering an overall positive reception from critics. While Starz has not officially commented on its future, Reiss has been responding to fan inquiries about the prospects of a second season, and it does not appear to be in the cards due to a lack of viewership.
In Becoming Elizabeth, a dangerous battle for power ensues after the death of King Henry VIII. His surviving children find themselves pawns in a game between the great families of England and the powers of Europe as they vie for control of the country. Elizabeth Tudor is an orphaned teenager who becomes embroiled in the political and sexual politics of the English court on her journey to securing the crown.

I think the timing of the shows opening was tough. I haven't seen this yet, and can't wait to see it. If there are others like me, who watch it after the fact and it gets more viewership, maybe they will reconsider? I haven't even had a chance yet and I bet others have been busy as well.

I have watched many different movies and series about Elizabeth and her family and this one was difficult to watch. I felt the target audience was teenagers.

I enjoyed it and was looking forward to the new season. Kudos to the characters for giving it your all! I look forward to seeing you all on screen other places in the future!

If it had just premiered about now, it would probably have double the ratings. Anya must be thinking.

Very well made show. Also ,very Very expensive. So unless it was a big hiy it was doomed. Hbo could manage it. But not starz. I am surprised the starz show the spanish princess is still on. And imo catherine of aragon was a great leader and its too bad henry the 8th did not die and she could have run the country instead of being sidelined.

Not surprised. This show was terrible! Couldn’t make it past episode 2! Hopefully The Serpent Queen will fair better. It’s much better than this.
