The superhero drama's current season will be its last.
October 31, 2022
It was announced today that the current third season of Stargirl will be its last. While there was no word that the superhero drama would be ending when Season 3 premiered in August, today's news is no surprise. Nexstar Media Group has recently acquired The CW network, which has resulted in most of its scripted originals ending or being cancelled.
Based on the DC Comics superhero, Stargirl follows high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore, who moves to Blue Valley, Nebraska after her mother remarries. After discovering a powerful cosmic staff, Courtney becomes Stargirl and goes on to inspire a group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past.
"Stargirl has always held a special place in my heart for many reasons," creator Geoff Johns said in a statement. "With all the brewing changes at the network, we were aware this was possibly the last season, so we wrote with that in mind and have delivered what I believe to be the best season of Stargirl yet, with complete creative closure. The cast and crew are extraordinary, and I'd like to thank them for helping me bring this series to life. Brec embodied Courtney in every way possible — with grace, strength and humor — exceeding my wildest expectations. I am grateful to WBTV and The CW for giving us a home to tell this story and to honor my beloved late sister, and I'm beyond thankful to the press and fans who have always championed us for three amazing seasons. Most series never get this far. We couldn't be more proud of our show and the fan community it's built!"

Actually I just gave up on this show. It lost me a few episodes ago.
Glad they are not dragging it out, first seasons were good.

So much for future crossovers. Not surprised. CW used to be the best network. Now, not so much

I really liked Stargirl, thought we would have way more then only 3 seasons. cw is dead for sure, guess all the new channel will have is reality tv shows, so nexstar is dead to me too.

I’m saddened by this. It was nice to watch a fairly wholesome show.

I just wanted to say how much I love the show and how special I think it is. Parents and children, a chance to be better and do right, and see one's power within - and the power that comes from love and friendship. It is really something incredibly special.
My son started watching it with me, we are in season three, and we have also watched eight seasons of the Flash and have loved that too.

Flash is ending. Now Stargirl. End of the Arrowverse. There was rumor last year that Batwoman and others may end up on Legends of Tomorrow, but that was cancelled also. Maybe HBO MAX can throw together some Arrowverse stuff together. I believe Superman show is still coming back, but who knows for how long.
