The sci-fi drama will return in 2023.
December 13, 2022
NBC announced that Quantum Leap has been renewed for a second season. The news comes midway through the sci-fi drama's freshman run, which is currently on a midseason hiatus until the new year.
A continuation of the 1989 series of the same name, the show has been a solid performer for the network, ranking as the #2 new broadcast series of the season among adults 18-49. It is also NBC's best-ever drama launch on streaming platform Peacock.
"We're leaping into a second season thanks to the incredible work by our cast, producers, writers and everyone who has played a role in giving this iconic NBC series a new life," said Lisa Katz, President, Scripted Content, NBCUniversal Television and Streaming. "As we continue to bring audiences to our must-watch dramas, it's gratifying to know 'Quantum Leap' will have a prominent place next season both on our NBC schedule and next day on Peacock."
Quantum Leap takes place 30 years after Dr. Sam Beckett stepped into the accelerator and vanished. Now, a new team led by physicist Ben Song has been assembled to restart the project to try and understand the mysteries behind the machine and the man who created it. But everything changes when Ben makes an unauthorized leap into the past, leaving his team behind to figure out why he did it.

@MrNiceAngel Probably because Ziggy was voiced by the creator's ex-wife, so might be part of a her deal for her to produce a new series or she simply didn't want to do it beyond the one episode.
Problem I have with the new version is the lack of the "waiting room". Since only the leaper's conscience is sent to the past and replaced with the one he leaped in to, but in the new series his body apparently just disappears. No the original's opening does say "Dr. Sam Beckett stepped into the quantum accelerator and vanished" but almost every episode had his body with someone else's mind sitting in a quarantined room.

I have to say the show so far is interesting it's not really based on the original because Ben remembers everything unlike like Sam he didn't remember a lot I think they should make an episode where Ben leaps into where Sam Beckett is that would be an awesome episode

Well more of the one street set they have. Love the show but maybe don't just use the one set for every episode.

Personally, shows got potential. Equipment all that been overhauled. Only thing that they removed since Ziggy's OS was re-wrritten is. She don't speak anymore. They took that out completely. Should been left in. S4 Quantum Leap an episode where Sam and Al swap places. Sam able to return home. Ziggy a floating ball As Sam walks up to geeks Ziggy says "I hope u didn't forget me Dr beckett" Sam replies "I would never forgot u Ziggy". Obviously cause Al got no experience in saving and defending himself Sam decides to step back into the accelerator leaps into Al who leaps back as his holigram. So I don't get it why remove a prominent feature from previous series. When in pilot the narrator voice was Ziggy. If the directors add that back but explain voice processor was damaged in Ben's leap ill back and support Season 2. May not be as good as the original but definitely has promise and potential. Am all for S2 just hope they bring back Ziggy talking.

I guess they are still trying to demograph a TV show. I bet it's not making any money but because it's what the cool kids are doing with the trans and race and whatever crap. they will keep it going. They'll cancel it when it makes a dead loss and when they see demographics don't make money.

Had my doubts, like my doubts most modern reboots and sequels. The storyline is good. My only complain is the team keeps saying it's the most advanced technology, but based on what they're saying they're themselves too clueless about said technology. So, the problem is in the script. Hopefully they can improve it in episodes and seasons to come.
