It was announced today that Chucky has been picked up for a third season by USA Network and Syfy. The official Chucky Twitter account posted the news, which comes less than two months after the horror drama wrapped its 8-episode sophomore run, which continued to garner mostly favorable reviews from critics.

"The cast and crew of 'Chucky' would like to thank fans and critics alike for their overwhelming response to season two, which we're delighted to announce has now spurred the official greenlight on season three. This news has made Chucky very happy. Thank Damballa for that because otherwise Chucky would have been frankly impossible to deal with. Many thanks also to our partners at SYFY, USA and UCP for helping us keep Chucky busy. See you in 2023 for what Chucky himself promises will be his scariest season ever," said executive producer Don Mancini.

Based on the eponymous killer doll from the 'Child's Play' film franchise, the series follows Jake, a 14-year-old budding artist who makes sculptures with doll parts in his idyllic American town. When he comes across the Chucky doll at a yard sale, he can't resist buying him. But his unsuspecting purchase gives Jake much more than he bargained for. Before long, the town is facing a series of horrific murders that expose the its deep hypocrisies and hidden secrets. At the same time, characters from Chucky's past return to his life and threaten to expose the truth behind his mysterious origins.

Look for Season 3 of Chucky later in 2023.
