Apple TV+ announced today that Tehran has been picked up for a third season. The good news arrives nearly eight months after the spy thriller wrapped its sophomore run, which again garnered high praise from from critics and viewers.
Produced in Israel, the show premiered in 2020 as the first non-English original on the streaming service. The story follows Mossad computer hacker Tamar Rabinyan, who infiltrates Tehran under a false identity. Her task is to disable an Iranian nuclear reactor, but when the mission fails, Tamar goes rogue in Tehran as she reconnects with her Iranian roots and becomes romantically entwined with a pro-democracy activist. Reeling from the loss of her closest allies, Season 3 finds Tamar seeking a way to reinvent herself and win back the Mossad's support if she is to survive.
Production on Season 3 of Tehran is now underway. Look for a return later this year or in early 2024.
