Netflix announced today that You has been picked up for a fifth and final season. The news comes two weeks after the thriller released its final batch of Season 4 episodes.

The show originally debuted on Lifetime in 2018, with the cable network actually ordering a second season at one point. But soft ratings changed their mind and it appeared headed for cancellation. That's when Netflix stepped in to save it, which didn't comes as a huge surprise considering it already had international first-run rights and second-window rights in the states.

At its new streaming home the show has been a top performer, growing its audience over the course of its first three seasons with more hours viewed through 28 days for each season than the one before it. Season 4 has spent 5 weeks in the Global Top 10 English TV list, and reached the Top 10 in 90 countries.

"YOU became an instant sensation on Netflix with a resounding cultural impact that has grown season over season," said Peter Friedlander, Vice President of Scripted Series, Netflix, US and Canada. "We're excited - and a bit terrified - to see how it all ends for Joe Goldberg, but one thing is for sure: YOU are in for an unforgettable ending."

From producer Greg Berlanti, You stars Penn Badgley as Joe, a bookstore manager who becomes so infatuated with women that his crushes become an obsession. He stalks them and uses social media to research intimate details, strategically removing every obstacle - and person - in his path.
