The medical drama will not return for Season 7.
April 6, 2023
Word is out that The Resident has been cancelled by Fox after six seasons. The news comes three months after the medical drama aired its now-final episode. As the show has been on the bubble for a few years now, writers setup the Season 6 ender as a possible series finale should it not return.
While its ratings were notably down this past season, the show still garnered ratings numbers that were above the network's average. But at over 100 episodes, production costs were likely too high to justify another season given its ratings slide.
The Resident stars Matt Czuchry as a senior medical resident at Chastain Park Memorial Hospital. The series brings to light the hard truths about modern-day medicine - both good and bad. Some lives are saved while others are lost, but expectations are always be shattered.

it had really started to get as far as it could and was starting to push the woke quotient to a point it was making some things cringe worthy, but still, I'll miss this one.
Back onto The Resident, I’ll miss it but the quality has been going downhill for years. How many “the hospital will be shutdown due to…” seasons do we get before it loses credibility.
Sign this and maybe NBC will pick it up!
By Season 6, it had turned into a just another medical drama with cases of the week and some recurring arcs like the past coming to bite a doctor, and politicians cutting funds.
I have watched this series all the way, but I honestly do not remember how Season 6 ended...Oh well...
One last point, I never liked the acting of the titular "chief resident". Everyone else was good enough, especially the Indian male doctor and the Indian twin sisters. The twins' acting in particular, was just amazing.
Unless they're a moron, of course.
