No Season 2 for the musical comedy.
June 23, 2023
It is being reported that Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies has been cancelled by Paramount+ after one season. The news comes three weeks after the musical comedy wrapped its 10-episode freshman run, which garnered generally positive reviews.
The move is part of a cost-cutting effort by the streaming service, which will be completely removing a number of shows from the platform shortly, including Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies.
Serving as a prequel to the first two 'Grease' films, the series was set in 1954 and followed four misfit students who decide to have fun on their own terms, banding together to bring out the moral panic that will change Rydell High forever. The foursome become the founding mothers of the first high school clique known as the Pink Ladies.

No one cares about this feminist crap. This is why Disney and all other companies are losing money with this "wokeness". It's going to bomb at the box office. It's not going to get any good ratings on any streaming service. Enough is enough!

This was a series made for the production company and actors.. it was NEVER made for viewers.
Was any viewer ANYWHERE clamoring for a series based on some (minor) character idiosyncrasy from a 1978 movie - not the characters, one small insignificant aspect of an overall character group --- answer - of course NOT!
This series was made because someone, somewhere wanted to make a "song and dance" series. Then they talked about it while working on other things and found others in the industry that would like to work on a "song and dance" series.... eventually they got around to talking to casting directors and actors.. and sure there are actors that would be interested in a "song and dance" series...
Then they thought.. well, viewers aren't going to tune in just because it's song and dance.. we need a hook. So, how about basing it on a movie???? GREAT! But we need a film that was relatively successful. hmm.. musicals of the past 50 years... let's see... well 1980s Fame has been done, and the Blues Brothers isn't the tone we want. 1982.. Annie isn't a good fit.. wait... 1982.. Grease 2.. what about Grease? Yeah the original Grease from 1978!!! And it was distributed by Paramount in 78!! What a great fit! We simply need to avoid using any of the iconic characters from the films themselves - it'll offer more freedom for song and dance numbers. So they start shopping writers....
And there ya go.... how some undesirable series hit a streaming service....
This series had NOTHING to do with viewers.
Granted it was not an atrocious series. It is just blatantly not created for viewers.

I wonder if Hollywood has clued in that exclusive streaming shows have to be viral sensations to be a hit. Can’t have productive shows or billion dollar returns on movies with streaming content only. But I’m guessing they haven’t clued in on that yet and just look at the numbers and not the root.
