The new sci-fi series will premiere in 2024.
October 13, 2023
AMC has released a first-look teaser for its highly-anticipated spinoff of Orphan Black. Titled 'Orphan Black: Echoes,' the new 10-episode sci-fi thriller stars Krysten Ritter and is slated to premiere sometime in 2024 on AMC, BBC America, and AMC+.
The series will be set in the near future, following a group of women as they weave their way into each other's lives and embark on a journey that will unravel the mystery of their identity and uncover a wrenching story of love and betrayal. The show will take a deep dive into the exploration of the scientific manipulation of human existence.
Ritter will play Lucy, a woman with an unimaginable origin story who is trying to find her place in the world. Starring alongside her is Keeley Hawes, who will portray a perceptive but sensitive scientist at odds with her own moral code after circumstances lead her to make an unthinkable choice. John Fawcett, co-creator of the original series, is onboard as an executive producer and director.

Well, I watched the whole first season of Orphan Black Echoes over the last two nights. After the first 4 or 5 episodes, I was thinking it was pretty good... not as good as the original, but pretty good. Then, after a couple more episodes, I was thinking it was actually getting really good. And by the end of the season finale, I was really bummed out that there weren't more episodes in the season! It really got to be so good! Has that same feel to it that the original series had... where it's going along, and all of a sudden it throws you a complete curve ball! You just never know what's coming!

The original has become known for being a truly great show. It did everything right. Sequels have to struggle for relativity. But it may work.

It sounds like this show will get closer to the origins of all the clones, and I'm not sure that's a good idea. There was a lot of ambiguity in the original series, and instead it concentrated on character. With a star like Tatiana Maslany, that was a big plus. Krysten Ritter is also a big plus, and it would be a waste to put her in a highly constrained plotline.

Well, the original series was as close to perfect as it gets... they nailed it, from start to finish! And I had heard there was a spin-off in the works, and was sceptical. I figured they couldn't find anyone who could be the lead that would even come close to matching the performance that Tatiana Maslaney delivered in the original. But then I heard they had cast Krysten Ritter, and I gotta admit, I think she may well be able to pull it off! I also heard the producer of the original was involved in it as well, and that has piqued my interest also. So, I'm anticipating this, and I will definitely be giving it a watch!

The original was a perfect 10, A+ That being said, I will give this a look to see if it's any good, then decide for myself.

I agree with Big Steve on this. Perfect ending to the original series. I do not know why this show is being made. I do enjoy Krysten Ritter. Might have to watch it.

This rouses no great enthusiasm. Rebooting a marvellous show that had a proper finale all tied with a nice bow always smells of desperate TV folk scrambling to make a fast buck. Like "Frasier 2.0", I may give this a try, but it'll be working thru a wall of deep suspicion and frownie lines.

I loved the original (the first season blew my mind) but I don’t know if I’ll check this one out. Krysten Ritter is fantastic, but it won’t feel the same without Tatiana Maslany. Protbably wait and see how people react first.

I've watched the original and reading that this is a 'complete unique copy of the original'? I don't know. I think I'll pass. I don't want to see a copy of the original, I want to see a different story.

This ain't showing up yet on my program search, so please remind when it's getting closer to airing. I get AMC and BBC but the original was only on AMC+ so I never got it. People here seemed to give it good enough reviews so I plan to try this here spinoff. The minor procedure looks a little shaky though, surgery might have been required.
