No Season 3 for the murder comedy.
October 13, 2023
It is being reported that Apple TV+ has cancelled The Afterparty after two seasons. The news comes a month after the murder comedy's sophomore finale, which will now serve as its series ender. Word is that producer Sony Pictures Television is planning to shop the show to other platforms for a potential third season.
The series follows the investigation of a murder, where episodes feature a retelling of the night's events from a different character's perspective. In Season 1, a group of high school classmates gather for a reunion, but their night of reminiscing is interrupted by the murder of one of their own. In Season 2, the groom of a wedding is found murdered the following morning, and every guest is a suspect.

You can only do that type of "comedy" once, when you try and bring it back and try to change the cast, it most likely will not succeed, its happened way too many times. It should've been a one and done. I just wanted season 2 to be over. Season 1 was just ok as well. wont miss it at all.

I agree--I typically like to see a show renewed for 3 even four seasons, but I will watch it if it has only 3 seasons. I'm on the fence about the After Party--it didn't make me belly laugh but then I guess it's not supposed to--it's a murder mystery. There was definitely some quirkiness to the show and its characters which made me want to watch Season 2. I'm not terribly disappointed it has been cancelled, but if it did get renewed for Season 3, I would still watch it. I like Tiffany Haddish. I think she was the real star of this show.

The show is decent and the second season had some cool genre throwbacks like a film noir episode, but I found myself smiling not really laughing. The mystery aspect was good. Disappointed that apple who has more money than god is not renewing all its shows. When are streaming services going to learn that you need to have 3-5 seasons for a show to really be binge watched and create a following. Netflix is a joke with 1 year shows left and right a complete waste. Everyone I know waits to make sure a show goes for at least two or three seasons before starting to watch otherwise it’s a waste. I know that people need to watch in order for it to be continued so it’s hypocritical but these companies make so much fucking money what the harm in doing less shows with more seasons than a bunch of 1 or 2 season Shows.
