NBC announced today that La Brea will be concluding with its upcoming third season. The sci-fi drama's story will come to an end after a final 6-episode run, which is notably shorter than the 10 and 14 episodes it aired in Seasons 1 and 2, respectively.

In the show, a massive sinkhole that opened in the middle of Los Angeles pulls hundreds of people down into a mysterious and dangerous primeval land with no choice but to band together in order to survive. Meanwhile, the rest of the world is desperate to understand what exactly happened and what it means. In the search for answers, one family is torn apart, and must work to unlock the secrets of this inexplicable event so they can find a way back to each other.

The third and final season of La Brea premieres on Tuesday, January 9 at 9:00pm.
