HBO announced today that Last Week Tonight with John Oliver has been picked up through Season 13, giving the weekly satirical late-night talk show another three-season renewal that will see it on the air until at least 2026.
"Over the past decade, John and his exceptional team have combined deep research and intelligence with cutting humor to tackle a broad range of subjects, both widely discussed and unconventional." said Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO, HBO & Max Content. "With an important election year on the horizon, we look forward to seeing what John has in store for audiences over the next three years."
Since its 2014 premiere, the series has become a Sunday night staple on the cable network. Over the years it has developed a devoted fanbase while earning its share of critical acclaim, with multiple Emmy Award wins in numerous categories including Outstanding Variety Talk Series.
Last Week Tonight with John Oliver is hosted by the titular British comedic personality, who uses the Sunday-night forum to review the week's news, politics, and current events. Oliver offers his unique perspective and distinct voice on social and existential issues facing America and the rest of the world.
