The host is staying with 'Last Week Tonight' for another year.
July 31, 2026
It is being reported that John Oliver has opted to extend his contract with HBO though 2027. While the network has not made an official announcement, this development should see Last Week Tonight with John Oliver on the air for at least another season, which will be its 14th.
Since its 2014 premiere, the series has become a Sunday night staple on the cable network. Over the years it has developed a devoted fanbase while earning its share of critical acclaim, with multiple Emmy Award wins in numerous categories including Outstanding Variety Talk Series. Today's single-year extension is a bit of a change for the show, as typical renewals have been 3-year extensions.
Hosted by the titular British comedic personality, the weekly satirical late-night talk show reviews the week's news, politics, and current events, while offering Oliver's unique perspective and distinct voice on social and existential issues facing America and the rest of the world.

Great to see another season in the works, but disappointing it's not 3 years. I can understand 13 years doing the same thing for a creative person. In a demanding career, it's not like he only works 30 minutes a week. There's writing, writer's meetings. Meetings with execs, and lawyers. Rehearsals, make up. Filming advertisements. As you get closer to 50, it's more challening by the day.

@Stymie - Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean you aren't being followed.

But when their buddy is called the orange man well fugly is never far behind. Love the show but do not expect magaTs to continue or allow a voice against magaTs

This guy is such a stupid little clown. Another super rich liberal from another country who comes here to crap on half the people in the country. Hope he will be going the same way as his buddy Steve C.

I stopped watching this show years ago. It is just a bunch of democratic trash. He should make fun of both sides. Next thing he'll be saying that socialism and communism is a good thing, if he hasn't already. Go back to your country that has numerous issues, which includes 6 PMs in the past 10 years.

Great news, but the single year worries me.
