MGM+ announced today that Beacon 23 has been renewed for Season 2. The news comes the day after the sci-fi thriller wrapped its 8-episode freshman run, which ultimately garnered a mixed reception from critics and viewers.
"We're thrilled that Beacon 23 has found a loyal audience on MGM+ and look forward to sharing more episodes with fans in 2024," said David Fortier and Ivan Schneeberg, Co-Executive Chairmen, Boat Rocker Media and Co-Chairmen, Boat Rocker Studios. "Thank you to our dedicated creative partners, the wonderful team at MGM+, and the talented cast and crew for helping deliver what is sure to be an unforgettable season of television."
Based on the best-selling book by Hugh Howey, the series is set in the farthest reaches of the Milky Way, where the fates of a government agent, Aster, and a stoic ex-military man, Halan, become entangled after they find themselves trapped together inside one of many beacons that serve as a lighthouse for intergalactic travelers. Every beacon is run by one highly trained human and a specialized Artificial Intelligence. When Aster mysteriously finds her way to the lonely beacon-keeper Halan, a tense battle of wills begins. Halan questions whether Aster is friend or foe, as her ability to disguise her agenda and motives could make her a formidable opponent.
Look for Season 2 of Beacon 23 in April 2024.

After the first 5 it gets really good! There is a whole episode going to the past (which I normally hate but this one was perfect). The end of season 1 could be the end of the story - or not.
My only fear is they want to stretch it in season 2. You know, like they did in Lost (aaaagghh never getting back the time I "Lost" with that), they stretched it over a lot of seasons.
Here you start caring for the characters, even the obnoxious Bartholomew. Thank you for picking up this show and for renewing it. We can't wait until season 2 premieres!
Anyway, I am NOT going to be returning for Season 2.
Since when do little middle easter/Pakistani/Indian girls grow up to be white women? Oh the dreads.. that makes Lena middle-eastern apparently.. cuz there's no other HINT of that heritage in the WHITE woman.
I dvr-ed the first season and now will definitely move it to 'must see.'
