Apple TV+ announced today that For All Mankind has been renewed for a fifth season. The pickup comes three months after the space race drama wrapped Season 4.

"Our fascination with the Soviet space program has grown with every season of For All Mankind," said executive producers Wolpert and Nedivi. "The more we learned about this secret city in the forests outside Moscow where the Soviet cosmonauts and engineers worked and lived, the more we wanted to tell this story of the other side of the space race. We could not be more excited to continue building out the alternate history universe of For All Mankind with our partners at Apple and Sony."

The series premiered in 2019 as one of the streaming service's first shows at its launch. It has been going strong since, with each of its seasons garnering high critical praise. It now ranks as Apple TV+'s longest-running original scripted series.

Set in an alternate history where NASA's space program remained a priority and a symbol of people's hopes and dreams, For All Mankind is told through the lives of astronauts, engineers, and their families after the USSR becomes the first nation to successfully land on the Moon.
