No Season 3 for the detective drama.
April 19, 2024
It is being reported that So Help Me Todd has been cancelled by CBS after two seasons. The news comes with four episodes remaining in the drama's now-final run, with its May 16 episode now set to serve as its series ender.
Creator Scott Prendergast took to Instagram following the news, expressing gratitude to everyone involved in making the show as well as all the viewers, calling it the best professional experience of his life. See his full post below.
The show has been garnering decent ratings so far this season, but it does rank as one of the lowest-watched dramas on the network. It appears today's cancellation was needed in order to make room on the schedule for one of its upcoming new dramas set for the 2024-2025 season.
So Help Me Todd follows a guy named Todd, who has always wanted to be a private detective. Now that he is, he's very good at it. When his lawyer mom offers him a job as an in-house investigator at her firm, he reluctantly agrees - as long as she promises to let him be who he wants to be.

I'll admit that so far season two has not been as good as season one. The addition of a new boss over the firm has made it unnecessarily complicated and the sister's lack of direction is a bit too extreme. However, the basics of this show are great and with a little tweaking it could have gone on for years with lots of fun and success. It was one of my favorite shows and I will miss it. Marcia Gay Harden was delightful in this role. CBS has made a mistake cancelling it.

CBS didn't give this season much of a chance. Between writers and actors strikes, sports, and to many weeks between episodes, it's no wonder ratings were low. Come on FOX/ABC or NBC, pick it up!
Would be nice to actually film in Portland rather than just *pretend* to be in Portland.

I have to praise CBS for bringing back SWAT. Unfortunately other shows have to go. Why not put this show on Paramount+?

Would NBC or ABC PLEASE pick this show up and show CBS what a huge mistake they've made???!!! This show is fun, quirky, and entertaining. This show deserves to go the distance, and CBS really blew it!

I concur with all of these comments!! What a great fun show.. somebody should really start a Save Todd petition. Otherwise, all we are going to get is another reality show!
