The Rob Lowe-hosted game show scores a two-season pickup.
May 12, 2024
Fox announced today that The Floor has been renewed for Seasons 2 and 3. Both seasons are slated to air during the 2024-2025 broadcast season. The pickup isn't surprising, as the game show was a strong performer for the network during its freshman run earlier this year.
"Fans loved the first season of The Floor so much that we've ordered two more seasons of this breakthrough game show, with plans already underway to make our epic battle of the brains even bigger and bolder," said Fox network president Michael Thorn. "It's also been a massive win to have a huge star like Rob Lowe as our host, and both our viewers and competitors can't wait to see him back in action."
In the show, 81 contestants stand on 81 squares on a giant game show floor, where they compete for a huge $250,000 prize. The first challenger, chosen at random, selects one of their neighboring opponents to face off against in a quiz duel in the opponent's category. The winner takes over the loser's square to expand their territory, while the loser leaves the game. The winner then chooses whether to continue on and attempt to secure another square or let The Floor choose a new challenger. The last contestant who gains full control over The Floor takes home the grand prize.

It's also a bit different from Jeopardy-type quiz shows. Nobody can be a master of all 81 quiz topics on the board. And it takes more than superficial knowledge to win each challenge.
