HBO orders more of the 'Game of Thrones' prequel.

HBO announced today that House of the Dragon has been renewed for a third season. The early pickup comes ahead of the prequel series' sophomore premiere this Sunday.
"George, Ryan, and the rest of our incredible executive producers, cast, and crew, have reached new heights with the phenomenal second season of House of the Dragon," said Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President, HBO Programming, Head of HBO Drama Series and Films. "We are in awe of the dragon-sized effort the entire team has put into the creation of a spectacular season two, with a scope and scale that is only rivaled by its heart. We could not be more thrilled to continue the story of House Targaryen and watch this team burn bright again for season three."
Based on George R.R. Martin's 'Fire & Blood' novel, House of the Dragon is set 200 years before the events of 'Game of Thrones,' which concluded in 2019 after an 8-year run. The series chronicles the story of House Targaryen, including the events leading up to the Targaryen civil war, aka the 'Dance of the Dragons', and the war that erupted over control of the legendary Iron Throne.

Needs to be retitled... "House of Vagina" the staff behind this show is intentionally trying to bleed in social commentary. There is not a single, solitary strong man in all of season 2. Even if you THINK there may be, there isn't.. they are controlled by their mother, some witch, some female is telling them what they can, can't, or must do. The season finale was exceptionally pathetic due to the "for lesbians by lesbians" writing aspects.

I know this is seen as improper to state in today's society.. but... this series is CLEARLY written by women. They could stand to let a man write a few episodes.

This is how is definitely on the Woke train and is not nearly as good as the first few seasons of GOT before it went off the rails as well.
The acting is very inconsistent, the writing is very inconsistent and if it wasn't for a few actors I like in this show, I wouldn't watch it at all. I can barely watch it now, but at least it is better than some other fare on tv.

The writing is terrible. The wings are terrible and look ridiculous and I am still confused on ages and timelines.
I can't stand the character Rhaenyra, but I hate the character, what a useless whiny thing.
She calls banners, but where is it shown that those where SHE is in charge tobe her?
Is it Pax Rhaenrya?
They are so focused on jumping from plot point to plot point, they have sacrificed setting ,subplots, secondary characters, and the actual STORY .
I guess I am hate watching it since it is such a disappointment.
I saw on other comments that is is like a Soap Opera
I would say Soaps are better written and more compelling.
Maybe Ken Corday can give them some tips

..all I'll say is replace "dragon" with Pok-e-mon.. or GoBot.. or Transformer... and it's the same show. Just drama for the sake of drama with the thinnest of plots. I REALY rolled my eyes when I heard "Winter is Coming" in 2x1... I mean GOT did that for 8 f'in seasons... and then petered out.... Winter is a lie you fools!

I was a huge fan of GOT, the characters, the books, etc., I found the show riveting almost every episode, and I could not tear my eyes away from the screen. However, House Of The Dragon, for me, isn't the same. The only intriguing characters, again to me, are Daemon, and to a lesser extent, Aemond .I have found myself staring at my phone instead of the screen, leaving to get myself a drink and not pausing it, and so forth. I have a funny feeling that I will stop watching it altogether in a few weeks. I wish that I could say what I feel it's missing, but I can't tell what that is. Both were sort of "soap operas" as others pointed out, so I don't think that's it, but if you go that direction, perhaps GOT was One Life To Live, and House of the Dragon is a patchwork Hallmark holiday retread movie?

As I'm watching the Season 2 premier.. it occurred to me.. this is a SOAP OPERA, that's all. Just a soap opera with the occasional dragon in it. It's not any different than any daytime soap other than the occasional dragon. I mean, if THAT is how they start season two - with a boring all melodrama episode.. I have pretty low expectations for season 2.

Is there a new director for season 2 and 3? Because the season 1 director was horrible - HUGE time leaps between episodes with new actors playing the same roll with no lead in or indication. Same character, COMPLETELY new actor.. and the audience is suppose to know instantly what character this new actress is portraying? Moronic direction.
