At New York Comic Con today, Adult Swim announced that Rick and Morty has been renewed for two additional seasons that will take it to Season 12. It has been over six years since the animated comedy received a massive 70-episode pickup that will take it to 2027. Today's two-season renewal will extend its time on the air to 2029.

"From Season One, Rick and Morty set a new standard in adult animation and has shown no signs of stopping," said Michael Ouweleen, president of Adult Swim. "Dan, Scott and the rest of the immensely talented team behind Rick and Morty are constantly outdoing themselves and I'll be joining the millions of fans around the world in looking forward to more adventures in the years to come."

The series follows Rick Sanchez, who suddenly shows up on his daughter's doorstep after being missing for almost 20 years. It isn't long until he has converted their garage into his own personal lab, which he uses to work on dangerous gadgets and inventions. He befriends his 14-year-old grandson, Morty, and together they go on insane adventures that involve traveling the galaxy to distant planets and dimensions.
