The acclaimed comedy's upcoming run will conclude its story.

Word is out that The Righteous Gemstones will be coming to an end after its upcoming fourth season. Creator Danny McBride broke the news in an interview with GQ, which comes a year-and-a-half after the acclaimed comedy was renewed for what is now its final run.
"I don't know - it felt natural," McBride told the magazine. "I wrote the pilot for [Righteous Gemstones] in 2017, so when I finish up post [on Season 4], I'll have been on this show for almost eight years. It doesn't seem like that, because we had a pandemic in the middle and a strike. But, yeah - the story came to me, and it felt like it was a story that was bringing all these themes and these ideas and these characters to a conclusion, to something that felt like completion. So I just followed my instincts and approached the season that way as I dove into it, and I'm really happy with what we've turned out."
The series follows a world-famous family of televangelists who have a long history of greed, deviance, and charitable work. McBride stars as Jesse, a maverick in the ministry landscape who has taken what his father started and expanded it for a more contemporary audience.
A premiere date has yet to be set for the fourth and final season of The Righteous Gemstones, but a return sometime in March is expected.
