The Taylor Sheridan drama will return for Season 2.
March 12, 2025
Paramount+ announced today that Landman has been renewed for a second season. The news comes two months after the drama wrapped its 10-episode freshman run, with its episode on January 12 ranking as the most-watched finale in the streamer's history.
"Landman was one of the biggest shows of the year because of Taylor Sheridan's unique ability to tap into the cultural zeitgeist, harnessing the Neo-western themes of rugged individualism, ambition and working-class struggles set against contemporary debates around energy, climate change and economic growth," Paramount Global co-CEO Chris McCarthy said in a statement. "The series has helped drive Paramount+ to new heights as the No. 2 SVOD in the U.S. for original hours watched in quarter four, alongside our other hit series 'Tulsa King,' 'The Agency,' 'Lioness' and 'Dexter: Original Sin.'"
Based on the 11-part podcast "Boomtown" from Imperative Entertainment and Texas Monthly, the series is set in the boomtowns of West Texas, following the upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires fueling an oil boom so big it has the power to reshape the climate, the economy and geopolitics.

Loved this show! Billy Bob Thornton and Ali Larter were gold! His character's interactions with the daughter were hilarious and their whole family dynamic added just the right amount of levity to a very good drama series.

Far better than Sheridan's "1823" with 14 different comingled coincident story arcs. What a crock.

Great show, but I worry that the second season will be dominated by Tommy fighting off the cartels because it's cheap drama. I don't want to see this become just another "Breaking Bad" ripoff.

Billy Bob Thornton gives a good performance but I’ve admittedly felt kinda mixed on this show so far, particularly all the weird sexualized scenes with the teen daughter. That said, I’ll check out season 2 when it airs. Hopefully it’ll find its footing more in the sophomore season.

Decent show. Maybe thin the cast out a little bit. All the female characters are cartoonish. Billy Bob and the actor who plays his son are excellent.
