It is being reported by Deadline that The Irrational has been cancelled by NBC after two seasons. The news comes less than two months after the drama wrapped its 18-episode sophomore run.
The series premiered in 2023 with a strong start that saw it rank as the #1 new show in total viewers. Unfortunately Season 2 could not keep up the momentum, as ratings declined significantly over the course of its run.
Based on the book 'Predictably Irrational' by Dan Ariely, the series follows world-renowned professor of behavioral science, Alec Mercer, who lends his expertise on high-stakes cases involving governments, law enforcement and corporations. His insight and unconventional approach to understanding human behavior lead him and the team on unexpected journeys to solve illogical puzzles and perplexing mysteries.

What an “irrational “ thing for NBC to do! The show was good, the cast was great. The show and the VIEWERS deserve better from NBC, especially since network tv is on life support!

First Found and now this and Suits LA. Network Tv is really going downhill. This show was really unique and good so of course they have to cancel it.

Loved, loved this show. Seems like the Networks don’t like shows that make you use your brain. Loved watching Alec figuring things out. So, several more hours a week I WON’T be watching NBC. The good shows they’ve canceled this season are unbelievable.

I'm gradually getting less and less to watch on TV now. So many reality programmes, I have my own life, I don't need to watch some narcissists pretending they are acting 'real'.
