Paramount+ with Showtime announced today that The Chi has been picked up for an eighth season. The renewal is an early one, coming less than two weeks after the drama's Season 7 return. The first episode on May 18 garnered 2 million cross-platform viewers in the first seven days, making it the show's most-streamed premiere.

Set in Chicago, the city of which it is named after, The Chi focuses on working-class residents within a south side community who become linked by coincidence but are bonded by the need for connection and redemption. It is a tough neighborhood, where there is real and constant danger, meaning even the simplest decisions can have life or death consequences.
