No Season 2 for the prequel drama.
August 22, 2025
It is being reported that Dexter: Original Sin has been cancelled by Paramount+ with Showtime. The news is somewhat surprising, as the drama was reported to have been renewed for a second season back in April. It's the first significant programming move by the new leadership team at Showtime, which has pivoted to focus more on 'Dexter: Resurrection,' which is close to wrapping its freshman run.
A prequel to 'Dexter,' 'Original Sin' is set in 1991 Miami, where Dexter Morgan is a student with bloodthirsty urges that he can no longer ignore. With guidance from his father, Harry, he adopts a code designed to help him channel his inner darkness by finding and killing people who deserve to be eliminated from society without alerting law enforcement. This is a particular challenge for young Dexter as he begins a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department.

Hahahaha. Lets cancel this show while we start another show, which is basically the same show as the show from years ago.

I enjoyed it but found the actress plating Deb was annoying and the l3ast convincing.
I do though understand why its being canceled, Paramount needs to clean things up and rhis happens to be 1 show on the fence with fans anyway.
I do think if it comes back it'll have to be within the 2026/2027 TV season.. after that it'll be too late.

Yeah why bother, since Resurrection turned out to be so much better this move makes sense.

It did what it intended to do. I wouldn't have minded a season 2 to see where Matthews comes in, etc, but there's plenty of flashbacks in the original show to fill in the blanks.

We liked this show, not as much as the original but it was still good. But I knew from the beginning when I saw Christian Slaters name that it wouldn't last long. Not that hes a bad actor but no TV show with him has lasted long. To be honest Dexter has run it's course.
