No Season 2 for the prequel drama.
August 22, 2025
It is being reported that Dexter: Original Sin has been cancelled by Paramount+ with Showtime. The news is somewhat surprising, as the drama was reported to have been renewed for a second season back in April. It's the first significant programming move by the new leadership team at Showtime, which has pivoted to focus more on 'Dexter: Resurrection,' which is close to wrapping its freshman run.
A prequel to 'Dexter,' 'Original Sin' is set in 1991 Miami, where Dexter Morgan is a student with bloodthirsty urges that he can no longer ignore. With guidance from his father, Harry, he adopts a code designed to help him channel his inner darkness by finding and killing people who deserve to be eliminated from society without alerting law enforcement. This is a particular challenge for young Dexter as he begins a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department.

I know I'll get bad responses but maybe just me but if you haven't even watched the show just by reading the plot on here shouldn't be a surprise it's definitely not a show with enough of a story to make it a show on for multiple seasons for years like other successful shows more like something for a movie.

Good. This was show was soooooooo cheesy. Forced ridiculous drama...
Now, Resurrection has been decent thus far.. . So yeah, focus on the good, not the cheesy.

Well dang. This is annoying! I thought this show was great, and the casting was fantastic. Bummer!

I can understand not wanting to muddy the waters with 2 Dexter shows running in a year, but Resurrection needs to be delivered yearly or this is a bad move.

I am so upset! I absolutely loved it and was really looking forward to the second season. The guy that played Young Dexter was amazing.

Surprising, and a bit upsetting, but as long as they keep Resurrection going, then all is well.
