The action series' future is up in the air.

It is being reported by Deadline that Prime Video has delayed production on the second season of Mr. & Mrs. Smith. It has been over a year since the spy dramedy released its freshman run, and now its future is unclear.
It appears that cast issues are at the root of the delay, but the specifics are not known. The last news on that front is that Anora's Mark Eydelshteyn and Yellowjackets' Sophie Thatcher had been tapped to play the eponymous Mr. and Mrs. Smith for Season 2, amidst reports that Donald Glover and Maya Erskine would not return. Nothing was official, however.
Based on the 2005 film of the same name, the series follows two lonely strangers who each land a job working for a mysterious spy agency that offers them a life of espionage, wealth, world travels, and a beautiful brownstone in Manhattan. For their part, they must each assume a new identity in an arranged marriage as Mr. and Mrs. John and Jane Smith. The new couple now need to navigate high-risk missions while also facing a new relationship milestone. Their complex cover story gets even more complicated when they realize they have feelings for each other.
