Word is out that The Chi will be coming to an end after its upcoming eighth season. The long-running drama was renewed back in May, but there was no word at the time that it would be its last season. Creator Lena Waithe took to Instagram this afternoon to express her gratitude to those involved with the show, as well as her desire to deliver a final season that the Chi Family deserves. Set in Chicago, the city of which it is named after, The Chi focuses on working-class residents within a south side community who become linked by coincidence but are bonded by the need for connection and redemption. It is a tough neighborhood, where there is real and constant danger, meaning even the simplest decisions can have life or death consequences.
