No Season 6 for Fox's animated comedy.
October 3, 2025
Word is out that Fox has cancelled The Great North after five seasons. The news comes two weeks after the animated comedy wrapped its now-final run, leaving its total episode count just three shy of 100.
"We're so grateful for everything Wendy, Lizzie, Loren and the amazing cast and crew put into The Great North," said Michael Thorn, President of Fox Television Network. "It's difficult to say goodbye, but we're thankful for the five hilarious seasons The Great North brought to the iconic Animation Domination lineup."
The half-hour series follows a single father living in Alaska with his quirky bunch of kids. He does his best to keep them close, but the artistic dreams of his only daughter, Judy, lead her away from the family's fishing boat and into the big lights of the local mall. With the kids' mom not being in the picture, Judy looks for guidance from her new boss as well as her imaginary friend, Alanis Morissette, who appears to her in the Northern Lights.

Maybe part of the problem is that it's been on for 5 years and this is the first time I've ever heard of it. Could be that I haven't watched fox's garbage shows in nearly ten years too

Gee I wonder why fake news did this.

I’m really disappointed by this. It took a few episodes for me to get into it, but once I did, it was a really fun show. Great cast too.
FOX has tried out so many stinker animated shows over the last few years, but this wasn’t one of them.

Could never get into this one... the far too looooooooong off key singing in the opening was horrible and an immediate deterrent. I mean Jenny Slate singing?? come on....

I bet dollars to donuts they bring this show back in a few years just like Family Guy and King of the Hill. These writers always run out of ideas.

Family Guy and Bob's burgers are great. The Simpsons is iconic. Krapopolis is awful! Jon Hamm's show is so bad that it is unwatchable. The Great North is far superior to these two pieces of junk. Beef Tobin was my favorite character, Aunt Dirt a close second. Damn shame. I used to watch all four shows on Sunday night. Now DVR two shows and watch football.

Not shocking American Dad is coming back so they had make room. I thought show was ok and worth watching but nothing special.

Fox's release schedule for some of it's animated series is baffling and makes it hard for even dedicated fans to keep track. Even though the traditional Fall - Spring TV block continues to decline it would help if they could stick to some sort of predictable release window for each show.

I didn't think it would happen!
At least I did a review on it last year:
