No Season 3 for the medical drama.
March 27, 2026
It is being reported that CBS has cancelled Watson after two seasons. The news comes with six episodes remaining in the medical drama's now-final run. The move isn't a huge surprise, as it was the network's only drama that had not already secured a pickup for next season.
The series got off to a solid start following its early 2025 debut, earning itself an early renewal. But a move to the fall schedule in Season 2 resulted in lower ratings, which likely sealed its fate.
Set six months after the death of Sherlock Holmes at the hands of Moriarty, the show stars Morris Chestnut as Holmes' friend and partner Dr. John Watson, who resumes his medical career as the head of a clinic dedicated to treating rare disorders. Watson can't fully escape his old life, though, as he and Moriarty are set to write their own chapter of a story that has fascinated audiences for more than a century.

What took it so long to be cancelled? I'm so tired of these Sherlock Holmes spinoffs/adaptations.

It wasn't a great show or horrible it was an ok show. It was kind of house-ish. I will finish watching it hell I am paying for it with my streaming service. Now there was a sherlock and watson show on cbs called elementray and watson was played by a Asian woman and lasted for 7 seasons. Know I hope jimmy or chris doesn't read this I wouldn't want either of them to have a heart attack.

Killing Moriarty in the first season was a mistake. That is what made Sherlock through out it history. That fight between Sherlock, Watson and his arch nemesis would have pulled it throrgh the first season.
I never was sure if Sherlock was real or not.

I kinda liked this show and found the motley crew interesting enough to have watched S1. I wish it was given the chance to flesh out the stories but oh well.

I agree...This show was like watching a re-tooled version of House! Although I liked it & the actor playing Watson. I don't understand the race issue!

BTW...sorry to burst your bubble of righteous indignation, Brenda, but...NCIS Sydney has a Black WOMAN as the lead, sooo ...

Made me miss Elementary, and seemed like a budget version of House M.D. with a sympathetic protagonist. It honestly lasted longer than expected.

This was a fun little show.
It was nice to see someone else, not Sherlock Holmes, in the lead of a Sherlock Holmes connected adaptation.

Brenda had the same comment concerning the DMV cancellation. Maybe she has Tourette or something else.
