No Season 2 for the Duffer Brothers drama.
June 17, 2026
It is being reported by Deadline that The Boroughs has been cancelled by Netflix after one season. The news comes less than a month after the sci-fi drama released its freshman run.
The news is somewhat unexpected, as the series includes Stranger Things' The Duffer Brothers as two of its executive producers and had come to be known as 'Stranger Things with seniors.' And while it was relatively well-received by critics and viewers, it ultimately failed to draw a sizeable audience.
Set in a seemingly perfect retirement community, the series follows a grieving newcomer who has a monstrous encounter that inspires him to join a misfit crew of unlikely heroes who uncover a dark secret that proves their "golden years" are more dangerous, and they are more formidable, than anyone expects.

Russo Brothers 2.0
They are just going to keep pumping out streaming slop for next 10 years because Stranger Things has bulletproofed them from accountability no matter how much money they lose.

Sorry to see this go. The cast was excellent.

Honestly not surprising. The way that they ended Stranger Things, why bother giving their subscribers a show to get hooked on only to be completely let down at the end a second time?

Oh come on! The only issue with this show was it was TOO SHORT and the great story and amazing characters never had time to develop leaving too many plot holes. It needed a minimum of 12 episodes... I'm so over the eight episode cap and I don't think I'm alone. It's well past time to just cancel Netflix and move on, every show they have gets cut off just when it's getting good.

Darn, I actually enjoyed this show. Still glad I watched it. At least Widow's Bay on AppleTV was renewed which I have also been enjoying.

Bad move. Loved the show, there was plenty of story left to tell. After, The Duffer Brothers practically put Netflix on the map with Stranger Things, you would think that the Duffer's would get a two-season guarantee.

Disappointed it’s been cancelled. They are too dadgum quick to pull the trigger on shows with potential, especially sci-fi ones. We enjoyed watching it! Actors are awesome and it was getting so interesting!

I have to say I am shocked. It was an awesome show.

I really enjoyed this show, and am not disappointed that it won't continue. It felt like a limited series that had reached its conclusion. Why keep going after finishing the story?
Though I could go for a spin-off of Renee, Paz, and Wally having crazy adventures as they travel the world (no monsters needed).

I enjoyed this show at least season one had a good ending which can serve as the series ending. It would have been interesting to see what situation would have arrived next.
