It was officially announced today that Glee is coming back with a new iteration on Disney+ and Hulu. It has been over 10 years since the original series concluded its 6-season run on Fox.

The revisiting of the series was somewhat expected, as co-creator Ryan Murphy has been hinting about its return in recent interviews. Just last month he told Entertainment Tonight that a script for the reboot had just been written by himself, Brad Falchuk, and Ian Brennan. He also mentioned that he has been in touch with "around 10" of the original cast members, who were all enthusiastic about the idea.

The original series debuted on Fox in 2009, airing a total of 121 episodes through 2015. It followed a group of high school show choir members from Lima, Ohio as they dealt with the ups and downs of teenage life. It became a huge pop culture hit, tackling difficult subjects like sexuality, disability, and race. It was also known for its chart topping covers of songs like "Don't Stop Believin'," with its music still popular today on streaming services.

No other details about Glee's return have been revealed yet, but a premiere sometime in 2027 appears likely.
