Hope show

This show gave us hope. 1 in every 4 people suffer from some type of mental disorder, whether it is simple anxiety to schizophrenia. This show makes us feel we are not alone. It Gives us hope! Neurologist. I guess you are not one of the four. People with a mental disorder are like soldiers fighting the same battle. Only another soldier who has been through what we have gone through would only understand how we feel and what shows give us hope.
There is a small tale I would like to tell. There was a man who fell in a deep hole. He was asking for help but people would just stare at the man in the whole and glare. Friends and family came over and were asking the man to come out of the hole. The tried every which way to get the man out of the hole to come out but they just could not get him out of the hole. So they slowly walked away from the hole. The priest walks buy and blesses the man and offers prayers but the man stayed in the hole and the priest walks away. The psychiatrist visits the man in the hole and throws some pills in the hole and walks away. But the man is still in the hole. Then a mysterious man jumps in the whole. To his amazement he told him what are you doing "now we are both stuck in this whole". The man replies "yes but I have been in this whole and I know how to get out".

While this show does not completely reflect how my mind works, there are, unquestioningly, paralells. Until I watched this show, I was determined to do everything I could to hide my swings in emotion from the people around me. So, dear "neurologist", I would consider if I were you that for some individuals, this program is hugely reflective of their (our) lives. And perhaps your condescension, and that of people like you can contribute to the personal shame others experience in regards to their disorders. This show has inspired me set up a doctors appointment and explore possibilities for treatment.
In conclusion? This show rocks. It has very literally changed my life, and I hope it gets a chance.

THANK YOU to all who are backing this show. Going thru these, I felt a bit let down by some responses, and especially the "neurologist". I LOVE this show and I too feel HOPE when I watch it. I am a Bipolar 2 diagnosed 17 years ago in my early 30's, after living with and KNOWING there was something VERY wrong with me since very young. All the MD's would say was I growing to quickly and since my home life was messed up, they blamed my symptoms on that too. GRRR... Then I married a Bipolar 1 who just "gave in" to his symptoms a bit over a year ago. As we who suffer know, Bipolar of either degree is not at all easy to live with, and it's been very challenging for my once very successful businessman to lose his Directing career of over 20 years, and I lost my Administrative career 14 years ago. Legally, the Judge on my case said, the medication we take is NOT supposed to be used while working at any type of job. Could be a hazard to us. It have been so resentful of my loss, now have had to help his too. What "healthy" don't understand, or choose to ignore, is that we DO lose our livelihoods, incomes, the good parts of the personalities we THOUGHT the were once the meds are started, etc. Black Box is bringing that to light. I also liked Kelly Reilly in the current movie "Heaven is Real" with Greg Kinnear. We both kinda laughed and agreed that it was good to NOT see Dr. Katherine suffering with illness in this movie. :-) ALL in support, please remain strong and supportive of this show staying on the air. WE need the boost and support it gives us, and the "healthy" people need to get an education on how to help instead of making our lives more crappy! LMAO

THIS SHOW IS NOT BIOGRAPHICAL!!!! I too, have Bipolar Disorder, & have no reason to think this is relative to the real psychological world. For those who can relate, awesome, but to those "nay-sayers" including neurologists, "chill out". Like any other TV series, IT IS NOT MEANT TO BE REAL!!!! Think of other TV shows as "Star Trek". Do you feel that TV show should be criticized as "real"? I love this show & especially Kelly Reilly. I loved her acting in "Above Suspicion and many other BBC series. From a true fan, please don't cancel!

I don't know why some people don't like this show, it hits all the right marks on 90% of its episodes. I can actually really identify with Catherine and I will be extremely disappointed if this doesn't get renewed.

I am a person with some mental disorder and sometimes I feel like there is no hope even if the show is not um 100% or accurate with certain cases,it gives me hope that maybe one day a cure or the ability to bear with my disorder will one day come.it may sound like you false positive to some but to me it makes me feel like the possibilities are endless.

I have bipolar disorder, and the show ABSOLUTELY reflects my reality. I DO feel the need to hide my illness at work, and would most likely not gotten hired if I did. And the scenes where she's gone manic? SO well done with the CHI brightening the colors and making the world dreamlike. And the relationship she's got tackles very real problems having to do with the affects of manic "in"decisions. I think they hit dead on a lot of issues....please keep this on the air....

Not my cup of tea - I bailed before the half way point on the pilot.

Geez! I don't hate it yet, but I'm also for anything that isn't "reality" TV. Im not in the medical field, so the validity of facts doesn't really trouble me, because I watch television to be entertained. I'd rather wibd down to this show than one more dance/ singing/ surviving/ ridiculousness those of us without cable have to suffer though, or try to get away from.
