A supernatural drama following the story behind the witch trials in Salem, Massachusetts.
The 17th century witch trials in colonial Massachusetts are an infamous part of history shrouded in darkness and mystery. It all started when Salem Village and Salem Town were in a bitter feud over property, grazing rights, and church rights. People were scrutinized closely by the Puritan leaders in government. Anyone who behaved abnormally was labeled a witch, and often burned at the stake.
In Salem, the witches are a part of everyday life, but they are not who or what they appear to be.

This got renewed? Salem has maybe 3 good characters. The rest is poor development and poor acting. And the story seems like it's building, but never quite gets there.

Salem, so delightful to hear..oh how much I love this show and can't wait for the 2nd season to begin. Du du du....we haven't found anything as captivating yet..something that would capture our melodramatic essence. I don't think we will!

Our house likes this show, but we're beginning to feel as if it's struggling for direction. We began the season anticipating lots of witchery, combined with romance/drama, in both cases it seems that Salem comes up short. The lead witch, apart from a frog in the belly and a gal who falsely points out others, hasn't conjured up much. Capt Alden, also looks more like a hero waiting for a call to action... Not giving up on it yet, but they need to jazz things up a bit. An entire season of episodes culminating in an end of season cliff-hanger is not what's going to keep this series alive beyond a second season.

This series is brilliant. Glad to see Brannon Braga making some great TV again. Unlike J.J. Abrams who continues to fail.
