James Herriot is a veterinary surgeon in the 1930's Yorkshire Dales who is renowned for his inspiring humor, compassion for his animal patients, and love of life. He is hired by Siegfried Farnon to work at his veterinary practice at Skeldale House along with Siegfried's younger brother Tristan.
