Lady Cornelia Locke is an aristocratic Englishwoman who joins up with a Pawnee ex-cavalry scout named Eli Whipp in 1890 middle America. The two come together to cross a violent landscape toward the new town of Hoxem, Wyoming. They each have a clear sense of their destiny, though neither is aware that it is rooted in a shared past.

At their destination, an investigation by the local sheriff and young widow into a series of bizarre unsolved murders reveals the full extent of their intertwined history. With this new information they will come face-to-face with the future they must live.
