Samantha Who? is being taken off the air after two seasons.

ABC has left the show off of its 2009 fall schedule, deciding not to renew the half-hour comedy.

Speculation pointed to it being a candidate for renewal, but Samantha Who? has fallen casualty to the failing economy. The network reportedly asked for ways to trim the show's budget by as much as half-a-million dollars per episode, but a resolution could not be found.

The show got off to a good start with impressive numbers in its first season but lost steam in its second, despite star Christina Applegate being nominated for multiple awards.
