Thursday night's Season 3 premiere of Jersey Shore was watched by 8.5 million viewers, making it MTV's highest rated series telecast in the network's history.

Also, in its 10:00pm time slot, Jersey Shore was the second highest-rated program on any network in the Adults 18-49 demographic.
