With NBC finding early success with mid-season replacement The Voice, it comes as no surprise that the network has renewed its new singing competition for another season.

The announcement was made this week when NBC revealed its 2011-12 schedule, which slots The Voice to return mid-season once again. The show will air Monday nights for two hours from 8:00-10:00pm, and will serve as a lead-in to the network's new musical drama Smash.

In what can be seen as NBC's answer to American Idol with some key differences, The Voice has done quite well so far early in its run. After four episodes, the reality show is averaging a very impressive 5.0 among adults 18-49.
